Analox Sub Aspida - Portable Pressure-Compensated O₂ & CO₂ Gas Monitor

The Analox Sub Aspida is a compact, portable dual-gas monitor designed to measure both oxygen (O₂) and carbon dioxide (CO₂) in environments where atmospheric pressure can affect conventional gas-sensor accuracy.

Unlike standard ambient gas monitors, the Sub Aspida incorporates pressure-compensated O₂ and CO₂ sensing. This allows the instrument to account for changes in atmospheric pressure within its rated operating range, helping provide more reliable gas measurements in specialized pressurized and reduced-pressure environments.

The portable platform combines simultaneous O₂ and CO₂ monitoring with datalogging, configurable alarms, a high-visibility OLED display, rechargeable or replaceable AA battery operation, and a rugged IP65-rated enclosure.

Why Pressure Compensation Matters

Gas sensors calibrated at normal atmospheric pressure may behave differently when ambient pressure changes. In pressure-variable environments, the relationship between gas concentration, partial pressure, and the sensor response becomes especially important.

The Sub Aspida was developed specifically for these applications. Its pressure-compensated sensing architecture helps account for changes in surrounding atmospheric pressure so that O₂ and CO₂ measurements remain meaningful throughout the unit's specified operating range.

Important Use & Pressure Information

Rated pressure range: 700 to 1200 mbara.

The Sub Aspida is a pressure-compensated gas monitor, but pressure compensation should not be confused with unlimited pressure compatibility. The instrument should only be operated within the pressure, temperature, humidity, gas-range, and environmental limits specified by the manufacturer.

In particular, the published 1200 mbara upper operating limit is below the absolute pressure found inside typical 1.3 ATA, 1.5 ATA, and 2.0 ATA hyperbaric chambers. Do not use this model above its published operating-pressure specification.

Users are responsible for determining whether the instrument, sensor configuration, alarm settings, and environmental ratings are appropriate for their specific application. Follow all Analox operating, calibration, maintenance, and safety instructions.
